About
Here is my story and my journey that brought me to Naturopathic Medicine

About Me
Hi! I am Sarah Pearson-Legault

I am a Naturopath and a soon to be Naturopathic Doctor and Registered Acupuncturist. In Québec Naturopathic Medicine is not regulated, which means anyone can call themselves a Naturopath. In the rest of Canada it is regulated so in 2020 I decided to pursue the 4 year journey to complete an accredited degree at the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine in Toronto Ontario. I took a year off due to the pandemic and personal health concerns. During this sabbatical I decide to also become a Registered Acupuncturist because Acupuncture is regulated in Québec.

In my final year of school I completed my clinical internship where I spent the year seeing patients at the Schad Naturopathic Clinic, the Integrative Cancer Clinic and at a a free community clinic called the Flemington Health Centre

I also completed my Acupuncture degree at the Ontario College of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Markham Ontario. I am in the process of transferring my licence to Québec so I will be able to provide Acupuncture as a Registered Acupuncturist.

I also hold a BSC. in Specialized Cell and Molecular Biology from Concordia University.
My Story
Why Naturopathic Medicine?
In December 2018 I had finished my Bachelor's degree and then packed up my life and moved to New Zealand to work as an au pair. I realised that North America lives in a fast paced, go go go type of world compared to New Zealand. I loved the slow stress free pace of life and while I was there I never felt healthier or happier. I then travelled around Asia and decided I still wasn't ready to return home, so I become an au pair again in Australia. The mom of the family I worked for was studying to become a Holistic Nutritionist. She would cook the most amazing healthy and hardy meals and also tell me about different supplements. After some research I discovered Naturopathic Medicine, so I moved once more to Toronto to complete my 4 year degree. During that time I was the most stressed, most unhappy I had ever been. The stress of school and fast pace of life and living away from my friends and family took a toll on my health. I suffered from a major panic attack that sent me to the hospital as well as depression and anxiety that made doing anything difficult. I also have Tourette's which is a OCD type tic disorder where I make involuntary noises or movements (no I don't swear - thats actually called Coprolalia).

Now after taking time to decompress and reset, focus on what is important to me and managing my stress I am back to being the happy person I am. This is what fuels my passion to help people. I have been at my lowest and I have been at my highest and my goal is to help any one become the best version of them self.
